Lovely clean (very clean) room with lots of space and a swanky mirror that slides open to join the beautiful bathroom and main room. We were checked in by Charles who was pleasant and a warm welcome. Room availability was limited for what we booked via mobile deal on booking.com and we were kindly given an upgrade. Really beautiful decor throughout and the reception lounge was stunning. The first part of our trip was planned around a surprise Miami Heat vs Nets game and the location of The Tillary was ideal for this. 20 min walk to Barclays Centre and Lafayette. 18 min walk to Dumbo. 10 min walk to a new small shopping and food hall complex at Applebee Square which also had Primark and Target and Trader Joes! There’s a gas station very close by too. Room AC worked and heated up fast to keep us warm as we visited during a cooler feb period. The little cupboard space was perfect for hanging coats and slotting away shoes and there was a luggage bench too. Toiletries we received were bar soap, shampoo and conditioner - we purchased our own Handwash/soap and body wash for approx $4 from a local target. Iron, hair dryer and room safe were available. We didn’t use the television as we were only really sleeping here. Staying in downtown Brooklyn for three days was made perfect by staying here. Try to look out for the mobile offers - we booked our hotel the day we arrived (Valentines day) and it allowed us to catch a good deal.

The beds and pillows were comfy. The temperature control worked well, and the soaking tub was great and very comfortable to sit in after a long day of travel and walking all over NYC. The staff were very accommodating and personable. There was always someone cleaning the entrance and lobby which is nice since that’s what you first see when you come in. There are several places where the housekeeping policy is listed (in the online description, at the front desk, in the room) and I was still surprised by the amount of irate people there (and comments here) of people caught by surprise. I didn’t need daily cleaning. when my trash was full or I needed an extra towel, I just asked the and the staff were more than happy to oblige. We were in close proximity to both the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges as well as the subway.

The staff was really the best part of the place. Every since the member was so kind in a genuine way. I have to think whoever is doing the hiring is killing it. I had help with my bags, super nice check-in, the check-out was easy, and I even had a little emergency that two members saw but stepped in to go above and beyond. I would say names but not one person didn't exceed expectations.

The location is great! Metro station and city center are within walking distance. Spacious and comfortable room and very clean bedding, towels. I stayed here for 21 days, the staff is very friendly and helpful, they are multilingual in English, Spanish and Chinese, especially Jiastin, he quickly helped me solve the problem of changing rooms.

What I liked best about the Tillary was it's proximity to NYU Engineering school, its very good downstairs gym and its homey feel. I liked that the staff became recognizable after a couple days (not an ever changing rotation of people), that my room was compact but efficient and that staff was helpful.
